How these competitions stay lawful, and how you can check a draw yourself.
Our competitions are prize competitions under the Gambling Act 2005: they require a genuine element of skill and always offer a free entry route, which places them outside the scope of gambling licensing. We are not licensed by the Gambling Commission because a competition run this way does not require a licence. We nevertheless hold ourselves to a high standard.
Every paid competition has a genuine, well-publicised free postal route with identical odds. Postal entries go into the same pool, weighted the same as a bought ticket. See Postal Entry.
Every competition asks a golf knowledge question, and a correct answer is required before an entry can be made. The same question applies on the paid route and on the free postal route.
Before a draw closes we publish a hash of the server seed. After it runs we publish the seed itself, so anyone can recompute the result and confirm nothing changed in between. The winning entry is HMAC-SHA256(public_seed:nonce, server_seed) against the entry list. You can check any result yourself with the Verify a Win tool.
